Upload simple color/symbol mark
Upload a simple color/symbol design (initials, flat symbol) that broadcasts server identity at a glance.
A Discord server icon shares the same 512×512px square + circular crop spec as PFPs but lives in a very different context. PFPs sit next to chat text and a username; server icons appear alone in the left server-list sidebar at 48×48px and become the cue users rely on to find your server again. So while detailed PFP illustrations can work, server icons benefit from a 0.3-second-readable color/symbol distinction (a single colored letter, a flat symbol) — sidebar recognizability matters more than detail. Animated GIF icons require Boost Level 1 or higher, and if your server loses Boost, it falls back to static PNG (you need a separate static backup, not just the GIF first frame). This tool previews the sidebar 48×48px downscale and helps you produce both the live icon and a static-backup version at once.

Check the sidebar 48×48px preview to confirm the icon stands apart from neighboring servers in the list.
Export a 512×512px JPG or PNG. GIF animation only works on Boost Level 1+ servers, so prepare a static backup at the same time.
Most Discord users belong to dozens of servers, so a memorable sidebar color is often the strongest re-visit trigger. A flat color chip with a single letter usually outperforms detailed illustration over time.
Launching a new server with a sidebar-readable color/symbol icon that stands out at 48×48px
Preparing a static-PNG backup so the icon does not look broken if Boost lapses and the GIF reverts
